Andy Wood

Andy is a freelance trombonist working in London, UK. He is the jazz trombone soloist with the world-renown BBC Big Band, and has recorded and performed on both record, TV and live with many varied artists including, Tom Jones, Elton John, Phil Collins, Daniel Beddingfield, Westlife, Cliff Richard, Ronan Keating, Paul Anka, Mel C (Spice Girls), Katie Meluah, Tony Christie, Harry Connick Jnr, Will Young, Rod Stewart, Natalie Cole, Michael McDonald, Michael Buble, Terence Blanchard, Bruce Forsyth, Gloria Gaynor, Kid Creole, Lemar, Dame Edna, Claire Teal, Katherine Jenkins, Mica Paris, Norah Jones, Kenny Wheeler, G4, Il Divo, Jamie Cullum, The Woody Herman Orchestra (USA), Diana Krall, John Dankworth/Cleo Laine quintet, Randy Brecker, Jiggs Whigham, Lennie Niehaus, Benny Golson, Claire Martin, Tim Garland, James Morrison, Claudio Roditi, Marvin Stamm, Will Lee (David Letterman Tonight show), Bill Watrous, Bobby Shew, Alan Barnes, Stan Tracey, Ben Castle, Chris Botti, Charlie Watts (Rolling Stones), Craig David, Bryan Adams, Rolf Harris and many more. Andy has played 1st trombone and soloist with the London Symphony Orchestra, The Halle Orchestra, The Liverpool Philharmonic, The Royal Ballet, The Britten Sinfonia, RTE Concert Orchestra, (Ireland), Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Richard Rodney Bennett, The City Of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra and many others. As well as his jazz and classical credits, Andy is a busy session musician and can be heard on many TV, radio shows, jingles and TV specials and is a member of the Michael Parkinson House Band with Laurie Holoway and the hit TV show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, Children In Need, The Royal Variety Performance, and has played Tenor and Bass Trombones on many Hollywood movie soundtracks including, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory (Danny Elfman), Wallace and Grommet - Revenge of the Were Rabbit, The Da Vinci Code, King Arthur, Thunderbirds, She Hate Me (Spike Lee), Agent Cody Banks II (solo credit on end titles), Mindhunters, Kevin Spacey’s Grammy nominated soundtrack for the Bobby Darrin biopic ‘Beyond the Sea’ and many many more.
