Description

PARP ! - a collection of thirty original compositions.

Set at a Junior Band level, PARP ! follows a flexi scoring formula of mixed brass players; requiring a minimum of 4 brass players - but the maximum number is endless.

The pieces are predominantly groove based and seek to take participants through a wide range of styles and musical identities.

In the instance of using just four brass players, playing just the top part in each case will provide a cohesive performance.

Bamako Beat - Bamako is the capital city of the African country Mali and is seen as one of the major centres of African music.

Indeed, local and international musical styles are celebrated in Bamako and Mali as a whole, particularly at the Festival in the Desert.

Bamako Beat seeks to provide an access point into music of a West African style.

“All cleverly arranged and beautifully played, with excellent sonics.”

John Sunier
Audiophile Audition

“Every now and again a recording that is both truly outstanding and will have great appeal to brass band listeners appears on the shelves. We are delighted to make it the first recipient of our CD of the Year Editors Award.”

Kenneth Crookston

“The CD is just fabulous. The ensemble playing is fantastic; the tightness of the ensemble is amazing; the balance and dynamics are just brilliant.”

Philip Biggs

“The end result, is a resounding success. This is not a commercial CD, this is education, passion and self belief written in the sleeve notes”

Richard Walker

Denis Wick
