The Jungle Sound was something that was attributed to certain jazz styles in the1920s (Duke Ellington) and the 1930s (Benny Goodman) and was based around the use of the tom-toms as an integral component of the drum kit. Perhaps the most iconic example of such a piece called Sing, Sing, Sing by the Benny Goodman Orchestra featuring Gene Krupa on Drums.

Description

PARP ! - a collection of thirty original compositions.

Set at a Junior Band level, PARP ! follows a flexi scoring formula of mixed brass players; requiring a minimum of 4 brass players - but the maximum number is endless.

The pieces are predominantly groove based and seek to take participants through a wide range of styles and musical identities.

In the instance of using just four brass players, playing just the top part in each case will provide a cohesive performance.
