Description

My Heart Goes (La Di Da) is the fifth single from Becky Hill's debut album Only Honest on the Weekend. The song was written by Becky under her real name Rebecca Claire Hill, together with co-writers Victor Bolander, Charlotte Haining, Carl Nordström and Josh Wilkinson. The production was carried out by collaboration between Topic and Wilkinson at Tobias Topic Studios. Musically, the song is clearly electronic pop music in the style of dance pop. The vocals come exclusively from Hill. Topic and Wilkinson can also be heard together on the bass and the synthesizer. Wilkinson can also be heard on the keyboard, drums and string instruments, and he was also responsible for the sound effects. Topic, in turn, was responsible for the mixing and percussion. Topic worked as the producer and also as a studio musician. Jannik Pesenacker from the German-language online magazine Dance-Charts described the song as a hammer collaboration. The artists deliver here a dance single for the radio that doesn’t focus on content but on catchy tunes. The focus is clearly on ensuring that the listener can’t get the title out of their head and they succeed in doing that. My Heart Goes (La Di Da) was awarded a platinum record in the UK in July 2022 for sales of 600,000 units, the single achieved gold status in February 2022 and silver status in November 2021. It is Topic's third record award in Great Britain after Breaking Me and Your Love (9PM).

Rebecca Claire Hill (born February 1994) is an English singer and songwriter. She rose to fame after appearing on the first series of The Voice UK reaching the semi-final of the competition. She began making music at the age of 14, performing in a band called Shaking Trees – receiving BBC Introducing support from Andrew Marston at BBC Hereford & Worcester who selected her band to perform at the Nozstock Festival of Performing Arts, as well as a live session for Adam Green and Josh Withey at BBC Radio Shropshire. Since appearing on The Voice UK, versions of David Guetta's She Wolf and Not Giving In by Rudimental have been published, as have covers of Paolo Nutini's Last Request and Alex Clare's Too Close. Hill featured on Rudimental's track Powerless, taken from their debut album Home. In April 2021, she came out as queer on her Twitter account, stating "I've definitely felt uncomfortable branding myself as straight, or anything else for that matter, but queer seems to be the most fitting identity for who I am".[34] In January 2022, Hill announced her engagement via social media to her long-term boyfriend, Charlie Gardner.

“This is joyous stuff; an intelligent, coherent crossover disc, performed with phenomenal punch. Brilliantly recorded too – what’s the point of assembling a collective of virtuoso brass players if they can’t make your ears bleed ?”
